What is Ecstasy? MDMA, 3,4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine is a synthetic, psychoactive drug. This drug affects the brain’s neuronal cells that use serotonin to send and receive signals throughout the body and brain. The regulation of mood, sleep, pain sensitivity, and mood is all dependent on serotonin. Some people may also take Ecstasy in liquid form. Some people wonder if it is possible to snort Ecstasy. However, this may have side effects that are not worth the risk.
What Does Snorting Ecstasy Do to the Body?
Ecstasy can be taken orally, dissolved in the mouth, or injected. MDMA alters brain activity by altering neurotransmitters, the chemical messages that enable nerve cells to communicate with each other. High doses of MDMA can cause chaotic levels of serotonin and release norepinephrine. This could lead to an increase in heart rate and blood pressure.
Side effects of Ecstasy include:
- Nausea
- Blurred vision
- Brain swelling
- Failure of the kidneys
- Dilated pupils
- Muscle cramps
- Extremely high body temperatures
You can still snort Ecstasy. However, this is not recommended. Snorting Ecstasy can cause side effects such as muscle cramping, sweating and heart failure. People who have snorted the drug are also advised to withdraw from it quickly. This is because the withdrawal process can be very painful and may not provide the same euphoric feeling that they first feel.
How Long Does it Take for Ecstasy Kick In?
After only 30 minutes, Ecstasy starts to produce its effects. Although the drug’s full concentration is reached in the blood within 2 hours, effects can still be felt well before that time. You can snort Ecstasy and the effects can be more rapid than with other forms of use.
Ecstasy can stay in your system for up to two to four days, depending on how much you take and who you are. Each person’s metabolic response will affect the duration of Ecstasy’s absorption. Drug use can be documented in the blood and hair for many months.
